My Driving Experience So Far

Driving isn’t really my thing but I decided to learn how to drive because as my Papa said, it’s a skill. Let me share you how’s my experience with driving so far.

Few months ago, my family decided to purchase a car but it was only recently when I got interested in driving. I really don’t like the idea of driving because I just want to sleep during long (or even short) drives. But my Papa told me that I should at least learn how to drive because driving is a skill.

Papa told me that I should learn through a driving school but I don’t have budget for that so I asked if he could just teach me. He has a professional driver’s license so he can teach or guide me who only has a student driver’s permit. We went to a nearby subdivision where there’s a road that is perfect for practicing driving. It is also used for jogging in the morning so practice driving only starts at 8AM. Many said that learning to drive an AT car is easier than the MT. I have no experience with MT but so I couldn’t tell, but as for AT, I find it easy to learn.

Learning how to drive is quite easy for me but driving is not. Haha. I had to be alert at all times and be mindful of the road and the other vehicles as well. You can watch how my first experience in driving went:

Few weeks after my first session, I went again but this time, I did it on a public road with all the vehicles around. And I think I did better than the first time. Haha. I am still not confident about my driving skills so I don’t want to apply for a non-professional driver’s license for now. Besides, I still have to learn how to park the car. Haha.

For my third time driving, I had passengers. Haha. After practicing, I decided to drop by my friend whom I haven’t seen for quite some time. Apparently, they were going out so I thought of driving them out of the subdivision. Good thing, I’m more confident to drive now but what makes it different is that I have a toddler passenger and we don’t even have a car seat for her! That’s why I had to be really careful of driving. Thankfully, we arrived safely. :)

And for my most recent experience, I was able to drive longer! I drove my brother to SM Dasmariñas because he needs to buy something. That was around 9 kilometers far from our place so it’s already a long ride for me. Haha. It was an accomplishment for me, you know! :)

I still have a lot to learn in driving and I am willing to learn of course. I hope to be able to get my license soon and drive on my own. Oops! Haha.
