In less than one year, a lot of things already happened with that blog. That blog reached a 600,000 Alexa rank, gained PR2, hosted a contest, sponsored giveaways, had 20,000 unique pageviews, and a lot more. Same thing with this blog. This blog has been with me for more than a year and it’s a witness of what happened in my life for the past year. It wasn’t an easy decision but I really have to move here, and delete the old posts. I will still be using m e i c h a g a s . c o m but I am still not sure if how will I use it. I am definitely sure that it will not be my portfolio.

Do you wonder why I did this? Just to give you a hint, look at how I type the domain name, and you’ll probably think of the answer. :) I hope you’ll support this blog like how you supported this way back before, and how you supported my blog named after me.

As early as 6:45 in the morning, I am already at the venue, and surprised to be the first person to arrive since the call time is 6:30. Haha. Thankfully, another member came and so we decided to start arranging the venue. As more members came, each of us had tasks for the preparation. We really lack time and we were even pressured as we see the participants coming one by one. Despite of this, we were still able to start the event on time. Well, I wasn’t looking at the time so I wasn’t sure about this. Correct me if I’m wrong, please. :)

While doing my job as a facilitator, I also listen to the talk. Even if I don’t have my netbook with me, I had learn a lot from the speakers. I just listed all the websites they mention, listen to how the codes work, and what are they for. I really though that the topics were that too simple but I was wrong. I still have a lot of things to learn.

One thing I liked about this event is that the participants were active. They were given a task to create a somple webpage and they all did, and they even presented it to everyone. They were also active in participating in small games.

Like in last year’s FFC, participants also got freebies from Mozilla Firefox. But this time, they also had some freebies from Microsoft. And luckily, I also got one! :)

This is just a short post, telling my own experience. I want to read more about the participants’ stories. I know there are participants who blogs. So if you are one of them and you blogged about this, kindly tell me the link and I’ll surely read! :)

I’ve been into a situation and that lead me to a problem that made me think about it all day and all night, imagining the worst possible things that might happen to me. This is the second time I experienced this. The first time was way back last year. The first one was worse than this.

Well I really can’t talk about it. The only person I can talk about it is the one who’s involved with this. I don’t know if you can think of someone, but I guess there’s someone on your mind right now.I really hate this feeling when I can’t even tell this to my parents, and even to my girlfriends. Just imagine how bad the experience was. It worries me all the time. I was paranoid, thinking about a lot of things. I kept on praying and praying because God is the only one who could help me with this. And I am thankful to Him that He heard my prayers, that he helped me in this.

I don’t really know how to compose this blogpost. I just type whatever comes into my mind. Sorry for neglecting my blog. I will become more responsible this time. Think before doing anything. And also, sorry for letting you read this non-sense post. How about your just read my experience when I received my sacrament of confirmation? Or probably you might want to know what happened during the Engineering week? And I guess you’re interested with the UST Job Fair. :)

UST holds a university-wide job fair every year. It’s just right after the Engineering week so the urge to apply for jobs is still in me. I printed around 30 copies of my resume for the 3-day job fair. I just can’t believe that we, IT students, can apply in almost all of the companies there. That is why I had to print a lot of copies of my resume and spend around Php 100! I hope everything will be worth it in the end.

I had fun roaming around the booths. Thankfully, this happened during the Engineering week, so we had no classes and we had time for this job fair. In every booth, we ask if they accept IT students for internship. Most companies said yes. So everytime we hear the answer ‘Yes’, we immediately register and submit our resume. One of the best things during the job fair is receiving freebies from the companies. Haha. Look at these freebies I got!

I actually don’t know if there would be any company who would be interested to hire me as an intern. That is one of the reasons why I applied to almost all companies who accept IT students for internship. I really hope that I’ll be hired and have a great internship experience this summer.

Faculty of Engineering celebrated its 105th anniversary for a week. This usually opens with a parade, to be followed with a program and free foods. You might be expecting to see a lot of pictures about the activities held during the Engineering week, but sorry, I don’t have because I didn’t participate in the activities, even in the free foods. Haha.

I am just thankful that I didn’t join it because it’s a boodle fight. Don’t call me maarte, ’cause I’ve experienced boodle fight before. It’s just that I don’t want to eat free food in that way. Haha. Wanna see a picture of what happened after it?

If I didn’t participate in any of the activities, you might be wondering where I am during the Engineering Week. Well I was busy with the job fair. Thankfully, there were no classes because professors also had their own activities, and some professors gave way for us to visit the job fair.

Engineering holds a job fair every year and this time, I am a part of it. I applied for around 10 companies, if I am not mistaken, as an intern. I even experienced an on-the-spot interview in one of the companies and I was not so prepared! Thankfully, I managed to handle the interview well. I prefer not to tell what the result is. :)

So basically, I spent the whole Engineering week in applying for jobs, roaming around, and wasting time. Haha.

I really forgot to give my camera to my mama and my sponsor (ninang) so I didn’t have pictures of myself. I was trying to search for the pictures from the official photographers but I failed. So I will be just sharing you this photo taken by my ninang during the photo sessions after the event.

And this one too, with one of the fathers. He’s the one who hugged me the moment I asked if I could take a photo of him so I hugged him back. :)

Yes, the title says it all. I got a Samsung Galaxy Young. Disregard the Blackberry because it’s not mine. It’s his phone, and I’ve been eyeing on it since he had that. Haha. I’ve been asking him to exchange phones with me but he doesn’t agree. Well I understand, because if we do, it will take months before we get each other’s cellphone back. Haha.

Moving on… Yes, we saw each other again after 4 days. And that is record breaking. Could you believe it? We just saw each other last monday and yet we saw each other again like we’re just neighbors. Haha. Well that means we’re fine now. But it doesn’t mean we’ll be together forever.

Well, going back to the phone, which is the main topic of this blog post, I am so in love with Galaxy Young. Haha. I am just so excited to add applications and customize it. I am still practicing how to type messages since it is my first time to use a full touchscreen phone.

I promise to take care of this phone. I still have to buy a screen protector and a case. And I’ll assure that this phone will be mine forever. Haha.

And of course, I’d like to congratulate Engineering Pep Squad for a better performance compared last year. Plus, I like their costume. :)

The even won’t be complete without the UST Yellow Jacket’s performance who never fails the Thomasian crowd. They really make us laugh! Haha. And of course, Salinggawi Dance Troupe also performed. :) It was tiring standing on a bench just to have a better view of the preformances but I enjoyed watching. I am looking forward to next year’s Cheermania. :)

My friends and I originally planned not to wear period costumes because we thought that a lot of people won’t wear costumes. But the moment I knew that only those who are wearing period costumes are allowed to roam around the Benavides Park and ride carriages, I forced my friends to wear costumes. And because of that, we didn’t have enough time to prepare. Luckily, we were still able to find decent costumes.

Though there were few students who didn’t wear period costumes, we still felt different roaming around UST. Can you imagine our university guards wearing a different uniform while greeting you, “¡Bienvenidos! ¡Buenos dias, señorita!”? How cool is that? :) And of course, we didn’t miss the opportunity to take photos with one of them.

Also, the Benavides Park was somehow transformed to look like the old UST in Intramuros, which is called Ciudad Santo Tomas. Even without those large tarpaulins of old houses, UST would be a perfect place to take photos wearing these period costumes. We even took pictures inside the main building’s quadrangle and the place is just so perfect!

We have also seen the Popemobile used by Blessed Pope John Paul II when he visited UST twice in 1981 and 1995.

A procession was also held where professors, students, and administrators participated. The prayers were all in Spanish, by the way.

We were really tired since we just took pictures the whole day. We didn’t go to classes since we don’t know if the professors would attend to class. Haha. But even if there were classes, we won’t regret not attending those because this is a once-in-a-lifetime event!
