3 Before 30

Since I’ll be turning 25 in a few days, that means I only have a few years until I turn 30. It doesn’t stop there, for I know 30 is still a young age.

Yes, the title is right. I was supposed to write a “30 Before 30” but halfway through the list, I can’t think of anything to add anymore. So I decided to just write the three important things and elaborate more. I also don’t want to be specific because there are some goals that I want to keep to myself for now.

Value my family and friends

I started to spend more time with them and I am hoping to continue that. I want to make more calls, set more dates and open up more conversations with them.

I want to help my parents build their dream home (our house renovation is already ongoing, yay!). I want to provide a small business for them. I want to help them support my brothers in their educational needs. I want to travel more and take them to beautiful places.

But more than the financial matters, I want to become a better daughter and a better friend. I want them to feel how thankful I am that they’re my family and friends. That despite of the rough times, we still stick to each other and support one another.

I’m glad I was able to realize how important my family and friends are before it’s too late.

Invest in myself

Through time, I’ve learned that I need to take care of myself first so I could take care of others well.

They say health is wealth and I realized that the hard way. I want to live a healthy lifestyle and hope that I won’t get sick anymore. I’ve already stopped drinking soda, but I still have to increase my water intake. I need to eat on time, and stop whatever I’m doing. I have to eat more fruits instead of having sweets because I know my tonsils can’t endure too much sweets. I need exercise too, which I’m really bad at. I have started taking yoga classes and dance classes recently so I hope I’ll be able to maintain that. I always walk, which is good but I think I need jogs too!

Aside from my health, I want to gain more self-confidence and fully accept my flaws. I also want to reward myself more for the hard work I’ve done. No more thinking twice on getting a new dress or a pair of shoes, even guitars at guitar center. I want to take a day to pamper myself to relax and breathe the stress out.

Saving is important but spending for myself is equally important.

Take risks and step out of my comfort zone

As I grow up, I become more careful in making decisions because I keep on thinking about what other people will have to say about it. But I want to change that. I want to make decisions because I want it, not because it’s what other people expect me to do.

Marriage has always been part of my plan, but as years pass by, I start to realize that it’s one huge responsibility. But still, I want to get married and love everything that comes with it. It’s a risk I’m willing to take and work with my future husband. And I hope that before that day comes, I’m 101% ready.

I also want to quit my corporate job and become a full-time mom and wife. I’ll be quitting my career where I earn a lot so that I could take a job that I’m not even getting paid for. But I know I won’t regret it.

“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try.”

Honestly, I am scared and excited to reach 30 but I am hoping that when the time comes, I’ll become a better person than who I am right now.

It’s your turn!

  • What are the 3 things you want to do before you reach 30?
  • Are you excited to reach that age?

These are really some things worth pondering. I’ve started doing all three as well, just recently, when I realized I am turning past my teenage years in the months to come. Although I still have more than a decade to fulfill these, I am thinking ahead for my future. Especially the first part about my parents. Hopefully a few years from now, I could give them a life that they truly deserve for raising me up. :) I wish you all the best!

Thanks, Mimi. Wishing you the same. :) Hope you’ll be able to fulfill your goals :)

It’s still a long way to go before I reach 30, but like you, I don’t think I can fill up a 30 before 30 lists. Just can’t see myself writing up that much goals/lists. All of these are on my list though. Priority is to have a house away from the busy city for my parents and to make sure my brothers can afford college. I don’t see myself being a full-time mom in the future – or maybe it’s because I just don’t see myself getting married now since I have nothing on the lovelife front. But that’s a really tough job and my corporate job is easier than being a mom, me thinks. Who knows what my perspective will be after a few years though.

I’ve always wanted to become a housewife, ewan ko kung bakit haha In highschool, I didn’t even have a “dream job” so I had a hard time choosing what course to take. I just want to become a mom haha And that never changed until now. But it may be different from you. Yours might change, when the right one comes, naks haha Wishing you the best Richel! :)

5 years is still a long way to go before reaching 30 but well, time flies so fast these days, you won’t be able to tell the difference on today from yesterday. As for me, I still have more years than you and what I am excited about is the journey I’ll be taking to reach that age. That age is scary because people will be expecting more from you. Investing for myself is definitely in my list before I turn 30 and also having a place of my own, and then to have traveled the PH before that age would be a dream come true. Well, these are all possible if we work hard. Good luck to us Mei! :)

I know, it’s all possible, in God’s time! :) Just don’t rush, and everything will all into place. Good luck with your goals, Renee :)

Marriage, why am i so scared of that word? lol I never wanted to get married ever since as you said its too much, and i agree with that 1000% :D I just imagine myself having my own house doing the things that I want to do without having to worry about kids, school, your husband etc. Sounds really selfish, or maybe theres something wrong with me lol still trying to figure things out. Kapag tumatanda na talaga napapaisip ka ng mga seryosong mga bagay! haha

I agree with your first two point, family, friends and self. I dont have health complications so far, but I have a feeling I will have one if I dont start exercising and start eating healthy soon. Advance happy birthday too sis! I’m a year older than you pala :)

Thanks, Clare! I agree, we all should start taking care of our health as early as possible. Even if you’re healthy now, you wouldn’t be sure in the next few days. It’s scary!

Nah, who knows, you might change your perspective when it comes to marriage! Hehe

Happy birthday! 25 is super young! Plenty of time to accomplish everything you want. My older brother-in-law said that the 20s are still very young, so we shouldn’t sweat it. Also in my experience, the late 20s are soooo much better. :P

A lot have told me about it, na bata pa daw yung 25! Haha but I have a timeline and I feel like I’m already behind :( There’s so many things to do! Haha

I think it’s important to set the number of goals or things you want to do, that is appropriate for you. I created 30 and I probably won’t be able to do them all. xD Having just three with a lot of thought for each one is really great and I hope you are able to do each. :D

    1. Reply

That’s one reason why I didn’t list down 30 things haha it would be frustrating not to accomplish them all by 30. Hah

I hope you are able to reach these things!

    1. What are the 3 things you want to do before you reach 30?
I want to be financially independent and have my own place. It’s hard for me, though, because I’m autistic…and the statistics and resources available don’t exactly work in my favor.
I’d also love a cat (need independence for it) and to take dance classes again.

    2. Are you excited to reach that age?
No. I am 25 years old, though, and I don’t want those five years to quickly drive by.

Happyyy 25th!!! I’m so happy for you Mei :) I hope I reach this kind of ‘sense of responsibility’ at some point (>w<) Please keep it up and I know you're near fulfilling those goals :D And I will say this even if we don't see each other at all (only once of twice maybe) You are indeed a great friend and probably an awesome daughter and sister.

What are the 3 things you want to do before you reach 30?
    – I guess, at this point I'd like it very much if I'd established a stable life, and be able to run a business or something :)) hihi

Are you excited to reach that age?
Not so and but also so, weird right? But truly I can't wait what lies ahead even if it also scares me, I'm usually too happy go lucky these days again

I hope you enjoy your day!!!!

If I have learned a thing about my life currently, it’s just go with it and don’t bother to be a worrywart. taking risks din sis! hahah the comfort zone might be comfy but it can lead us nowehere… kaya kung kaya go lang nang go sa experiences. I have to remind myself of that kasi I’m too conscious sa sarili ko to the point na eventually di ko minsan naiisip na dahil sa pagiging comfy ko sa zone ko, nawawala yung opportunities to grow and to spread my wings (naks). Life’s yet to come talaga for us, marami pa talaga tayong kakainin! heheh

Nako, super agree ako sayo! Kaya slowly, I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone. Scary sya, pero I know worth it naman in the end. Thank you sis! :)

I still have nine years before I turn 30 and that seems like a long time but if there’s anything that I learned from aging, it is that time moves faster as we get older! I’m a bit excited but definitely more scared. I just hope time will be kind to all of us.

Super agree in all of these. I’ve been trying to eliminate soda in my diet but it’s too hard,. huhuhu. I hope I can soon.
You will become a better person if you believe in yourself. <3 Hugs and kisses

I also just turned 25 this year and this post hit me right in the gut. I need to make more time for family and friends too so that’s already one. The other two perhaps would be becoming financially stable and ace the whole living consciously thing – I want to stay curious and not get bogged down by ‘adulthood’ and all that it entails.
All the best with your goals!

Thank you Len, hope you’ll be able to reach your goals! :)
That’s exactly how I felt when I realize I’m already 25. I’m not getting any younger! So I have to face reality and become more responsible and mature.

When I was younger, I was so eager to grow old… and now that I’m older, and understands the world better, I really wish I could go back to being a child. The pressure that adults are having… sometimes isn’t bearable. Especially expectations from people… family and friends. :3 But I agree with these three. Maybe I should just focus more on the positive things instead of whining about the ones that might just bring me down. :) It’s good to be back on your blog, Mei. I haven’t been able to blog hop in a long while. Finally got to visit my friends’ blogs :)
